Deole Netra Chikitsalaya

Regular eye camps were being organised by the Nyas since 1995.These were organised in slums and villages to treat for general eye ailments. The cataract patients were reffered to a hospital for the surgery.

In 2019, during the Kumbh festival in Prayagraj, a Netra-Kumbh was organised. It was a grand success as around 2 lakh people were cheched and around 1.5 lakh spects were distributed free of cost there which has been recorded in Limca Book of Records. Following this success and to keep the momentum, a project was initiated in Lucknow to have a permanent facility of eye-testing along with the pathological tests required. All these were made available at a nominal fee of just Rs 20 only. Spectacles are also provided to the needy at a very nominal cost.

The name of the project was Netra Kumbh Chikitsalaya initially. Later the name was changed to Deole Netra Chikitsalay, in memeory of Sh Madhav Rao Deole, the Founder Trustee of the Nyas.

Initially, the surgery of patients of cataract were arranged in the hospitals like KGMU. In 2021, the Nyas planned to have its own OT. The latest equipments were arranged and the OT was started in a new building. Now we are able to provide cataract surgery to the patients at a very nominal cost.
Till March 2023, the number of people coming here for eye-testing were 28,028 and out of that 10,267 patients were provided with the spectacles. 191 patients were operated for cataract and 1944 used the facility of pathological tests. FUNDUS test and OCT tests were also done for many patients.
