Sanjay Gandhi Post graduate institute of medical sciences (SGPGI MS) is the premier tertiary care hospital of North India. It has ultra-modern facilities for investigation, Diagnosis and patient care hitherto unavailable in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand and adjoining countries like Bhutan and Nepal. People from far – flung areas visit this hospital famous for the dedicated team of doctors and para medical staff for the treatment of their serious ailments.

It is located on the Raibareli Road on the out skirts of capital city of Lucknow in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Patient and their relatives especially the once, who come from distant placed for long term treatment as in – patients waiting for investigation, pre and post-surgical and medical recoveries has to stay at hospital or nearby place for a long duration. They face enormous difficulties on account of non – existent affordable lodging and boarding facilities near SGPGI.
Bhaorao Deoras Seva Nyas, a trust famous for its dedication to the service of the poor of this country, has established an institution solely committed to the patient welfare. Madhav Sewa Ashram, in memory of Second Ma.

Sarsanghachalak of RSS, is a service oriented campus in front of SGPGI. It not only provides lodging & boarding facilities at affordable prices, but also caters to the physical and spiritual needs of patients and their relatives through the formation a yoga sadhna kendra.

The Bhoomi-pujan was done by the then Sah Sarkaryawah of RSS, Ma Madan Das Deviji in presence of Shri Rajnath Singh (then Chief Minister of UP) on 29th March 2001.

“Madhav Sewa Ashram” project is spread over an area of 5000 sq meter on Raibareli road facing SGPGI. It has three distinct components.
1. Patient-Attendant Home
2. Patient Consultation Centre
3. Yoga Centre

Patient-Attendant Home

A three story building housing consisting of many self-sufficient dormitories, single or double bed rooms for accommodations. The housing needs of the poor have been given a priority by construction of more dormitories. The current accommodation capacity is for the stay of around 460. Each of the dormitories is provided with sufficient toilets and bathrooms. A central kitchen and dining hall meets the needs of the meals. A locker is provided at central reception for the safety of valuable and belongings. A lounge in constructed on each floor for comfortable space for social interactions and reading facilities. The whole building complex is environmental friendly and surrounded by green trees.

The ground floor and first floor of the building was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in presence of Governor Shri Vishukant Shastri and then Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati was done on 28th June 2002.

Patient Consultation Centre

The second facility of consultation center provides guidance from volunteer doctors and workers about the facilities available at SGPGI. This includes timely and proper registration, ensuring appointments doctors, etc. Since SGPGI does have only the limited super specialties on its campus, the necessity for the patient transfer and care at other hospital and facilities in and around Luckow is also provided by this service complex.

A homeopathic clinic and a Pathology lab is also part of this facility.

Yoga Centre

It is well known that many of the chronic ailments are amenable to treatment through yogic therapy. The ashram has a yoga kendra devoted to the teaching of yogic techniques and treatment through its various modalities.
